You are needed! Won’t you help??
The Baptist Toy Stores are gearing up for Christmas. Applications are being accepted from local elementary and middle schools as well as from local churches and other agencies.
We hope that YOU will begin collecting toys for the Toy Store that is nearest you. Toys should be new and value from $15 -- $30 per toy. We are providing toys for children: birth – 8th grade. Below is our list of Toy Store locations.
- Central Toy Store – Friday, December 1, 2017
- East Forsyth Toy Store – Saturday, December 2, 2017
- West Forsyth/East Davie Toy Store – Saturday, December 2, 2017
- East Stokes Toy Store – Saturday, December 2, 2017
- West Stokes Toy Store – Saturday, December 9, 2017
- PMBA/Love OutLoud Partnership “Gift Mart” – Saturday, December 16, 2017
- PMBA/Pilot Mtn. Outreach Center Toy Store – Saturday, December 16, 2017
We hope that our churches will adopt one of these toy stores to participate in. We want to provide toys for children in local communities. We need new toys, stocking stuffers, toboggans and gloves, hygiene items, and gently used coats (all children and adult sizes). Please look to see how you might help bring smiles to the faces of many children.
Help us by volunteering at one of the above Baptist Toy Stores. The Contact Person for each toy store plus phone numbers are listed on this page for your convenience. Don’t delay. See how you/your church might partner today. Each toy store needs Counselors (people willing to talk and pray with our clients); Toy Store Assistants (people who will go around and help our clients “shop” for their children; Gift Wrappers (people willing to wrap presents that clients pick for their children); and Loaders (people willing to take the packages to the clients’ cars. Any teens that want to help can receive a certificate of service hours by asking the Toy Store Coordinator.
Note: There are two partnerships with the Pilot Mountain Baptist Association this year. (1) The PMBA/Love Out Loud “Gift Mart” is a new partnership, targeting families in the downtown area. Gift Mart will be held on December 16 at the Benton Convention Center. We are asking only those churches nearest the downtown area to partner with this Toy Store. PMBA is committed to helping provide toys in this area by sending funds, making more of our churches aware of this new toy store and asking for volunteers to help. To learn more about this Toy Store (Gift Mart) or how you might be able to help, please call the Gift Mart Office at 336-718-7988. Christie Williams and/or Minnie Vickers are available to talk. Or, you can email them at: email@example.com (Minnie) and firstname.lastname@example.org (Christie). (2) Again this year, we are partnering with Pilot Mountain Outreach Center to provide toys for children in the Northern Stokes/Southern Surry areas. We have been partnering with PMOC for several years now and have churches in Pinnacle, Pilot Mountain and beyond committed to this toy store. We ask that if you are in this area and have not participated with the PMBA/PMOC Toy Store that you make this the year to reach out and volunteer, with funds, toys, and prayers!
Last year we provided toys for over 3,000 children. Perhaps you can contact some local businesses in your area to see if they might discount or donate toys for our toy store. Some places of business will allow you to place a box in their building for toys to be donated. You can also mail a check to the PMBA (PO Box 11843, Winston-Salem, NC 27116) and designate which toy store you want the funds to go to.
Please let us know if you know of families in need who have not applied at a PMBA Toy Store or another agency for Christmas help.
Pray for our Toy Stores, that hearts will be drawn to the Father…that we will have many opportunities to witness of God’s love and grace…and that we can connect those with no church home to a church nearest them to visit.
Contact Karen Taylor, PMBA Community Missionary, at 336-830-8189 or 336-414-0812 if you have questions or concerns or need help to get your collections to one of our Toy Stores.
Baptist Toy Stores
The Baptist Toy Store Ministry began in 1983 at Mineral Springs Baptist Church under the leadership of Mike Bradshaw, the Missions Development Leader. Since that time, the Baptist Toy Store has grown from one toy store to 5 toy stores.
PMBA congregations collect new toys, between $10 - $30 a piece. Individuals and congregations also make monetary donations to the PMBA Baptist Toy Store Fund.
