MISSION OPPORTUNITIES – GET INVOLVED!
June 1 – Aug.1- PMBA hires 3 or 4 College Students to help with mission opportunities throughout the PMBA during the summer months. We are now accepting resumes from those interested in applying. This year, a Candidate needs to be a college student and have experience working in church ministries. Summer Interns work with our Student Life Teams and our Deep Impact Teams. They also help with Sports Camps, Vacation Bible School, Youth Retreats, etc. Contact PMBA as soon as possible if you have a student that is interested in a position as a Summer Intern, or if you need a Summer Intern to help your congregation for one or two events this summer.
June 26-30 - Deep Impact takes places in Stokes County. More details will be forthcoming. Students with Deep Impact work in similar areas as Student Life Teams. If you want more information, please call Karen Taylor (336) 830-8189
August 7 - Partnerships with Local Schools – If your church hasn’t adopted a local school to partner with, why don’t you do so as soon as possible. Not only do elementary and middle schools need partners, but also local high schools. In August, we encourage our churches to collect school supplies for the local schools. If you need a complete list, call or email Karen (336-830-8189 or email@example.com.) We will be sure to get you the information. If you want to collect school supplies for our Food Pantry, we can certainly use them! Also, we have 3 multi-housing low income communities that we try to help during August.
Sept 25-28 - PMBA Fair Ministry Week – We will need lots of volunteers to help with this week. It is the week prior to the Dixie Classic Fair. Need 300 bag meals for Tuesday and Wednesday, snacks for the CANTEEN Monday – Thursday, plenty of coffee, water, and lemonade mix, 500 hygiene kits, 400 gently used golf shirts, and 400 clean, gently used blankets/comforters. Community Day is Monday, September 25. . We provide free dental services to the first 40 people to make a reservation. Please call Karen Taylor (336-830-8189; Wilma Rogers 336-985-0644 if you need to schedule an appointment.
Oct 6-7 - Carolina Women Missions Event for Women of North and South Carolinas. This is a Weekend Getaway for all Women of both states. To be held at Caswell Beach. Go to www.wmunc.org to register!
Oct – Nov 10 - COATS for our STATE - This year, we are asking local churches to help us collect good used coats to be given out to our schools and nonprofit agencies that we partner with. Some will even go to the eastern part of North Carolina. Coats need to be separated: 1) men’s; 2) women’s; and 3) children. Make sure they are clean and in good condition. This year the Baptist State Convention is not doing COATS for the City (New York). So, we plan to collect coats as usual and take to areas in our own state that needs our help!
Nov. 6 - Baptist Women’s World Day of Prayer – Please mark your calendars and plan to host a Baptist Women’s World Day of Prayer or attend one that is closest to you. We will send out notices of all locations of churches hosting on Monday, November 6. Several churches can come together to sponsor a Baptist Women’s World Day of Prayer or you can plan to send a bus load to the PMBA location (which will be published soon.) If you need materials, please let us know. We will publish a list of all locations as soon as we know them.
